On March 29, we met with the members of the Delegation of the Republic of Palau to UNESCO at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris in order to update each other on the progress and the Island Ark Project and new developments in the (not so) microcosm that is intangible cultural heritage (ICH) safeguarding.
The Delegation of Palau has been a strong supporter and advisor of the project from the beginning. This time again, Mdm El Kadi and her team was uplifting and showed great interest in our next steps to develop the Island Ark Project into a helpful resource for the people in and from the Pacific when it comes to digital safeguarding of ICH. For instance, Dennis will travel to Palau in late April and take part in a conference organized by ICHCAP, the UNESCO center located in Jeonju, Korea. At said conference, he will present the findings from last year’s five-week stint of field research. Stay tuned for updates from Koror in the end of April! We will more actively spread news about Island Ark Project via this blog, which is in turn to be integrated into our main and more comprehensive website.
